Description
Cabo da Roca Reserva Arinto 2024 — Arinto grown 20 metres above sea level
A saline, citrus-driven Lisboa white from thirty-year-old vines, half the blend aged six months in used French oak.
This vineyard sits at 20 metres of altitude, 40 kilometres from the coast — low, flat and fully exposed to the Atlantic. The vines are thirty years old, planted north to south at 3,800 per hectare, yielding five tonnes. Alluvial soils give way to limestone slopes nearby.
Machine-harvested in the last week of August, early, to hold the acidity Arinto is prized for. Destemmed and crushed, three days of cold maceration, fermentation at 24 ºC, malolactic in used barrels. Half the lot spends six months in used oak; the rest stays in steel. 11.7% alcohol.
Fresh citrus on the nose with mineral and saline notes, rich and elegant. The palate is citrus-led, wrapped in minerality, with green apple and a lift of mint.
Serve at 12 ºC. Cellaring 2025–2031. Pairs with clams Bulhão Pato, oysters, grilled fish, dry cheese and cured ham. First vintage produced: 2024.
