Description
Cabo da Roca Reserva Touriga Nacional 2022 — Portugal’s signature grape, 26 km from the ocean
Single-varietal Touriga Nacional from Lisboa, fermented cool to hold the fruit and aged twelve months in French oak.
The vineyard sits 26 kilometres from the Atlantic at 135 metres, fifteen years old, planted north to south at 3,800 vines per hectare. The ocean influence is strong, and the land alternates between alluvial flats and limestone slopes.
Destemmed and crushed, three days of cold maceration, alcoholic fermentation held at 24 ºC to preserve the fruit, malolactic in used French oak. Twelve months in French barrel. 14% alcohol.
Freshness and black fruit on the nose. The palate is elegant and balanced, the two sitting together without either taking over.
Serve at 18 ºC. Cellaring 2022–2032. Pairs with pata negra, aged cheese and game stew. First vintage produced: 2021.
