1808 Blush Rosé 2023 — organic Touriga Nacional, pressed whole and fermented in steel
A single-varietal rosé from Beira Interior at 550 metres. Destemmed without crushing, cold-settled and fermented cool. Organic and vegan.
The vineyard sits 119 kilometres from the Atlantic at 550 metres, eight years old, planted north-west to south-east, yielding four tonnes per hectare. High plain country: fierce summers, wind and snow in winter, and the swing between them holds the acidity.
Certified organic and vegan. One hundred per cent Touriga Nacional, hand-harvested in the last week of August. The grapes go straight to press, destemmed but not crushed, then 24 hours of cold settling before fermentation entirely in temperature-controlled stainless steel. 12.5% alcohol.
Raspberry, pomegranate and redcurrant on the nose. The palate is fresh and mineral, acidity in balance, the raspberry and pomegranate carrying through.
Serve at 12 ºC. Drink through 2029. Pairs with aperitifs, soft cheese, seafood, fish, pasta and pizza. First vintage produced: 2023.
